Abstract:

The majority of endocrine problems around the globe are thyroid ailments. Approximately 42 million people in India suffer from one or more thyroid diseases, according to numerous studies on the subject. This retrospective cohort study assesses the association between ultrasonography (USG) and fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) results in individuals with thyroid enlargement. The study involved USG and FNAC data of 118 patients, from Kempe Gowda Institute of Medical Sciences Department of Pathology and Radiology in Bangalore, India. The findings demonstrated that combining USG and FNAC increases the accuracy of diagnosing benign and malignant thyroid diseases. The study emphasizes how important both modalities are for making clinical decisions, especially when determining whether thyroid surgery is necessary.
